Types of Driver’s Abstracts
A driver’s abstract includes merit and demerit points, suspensions, and convictions on your driving record. They can cover periods of 3, 5, or 10 years. An Alberta driver’s abstract comes in two forms:

-
Driver’s Abstracts: includes the current status of a driver’s licence, lists conviction information, and any applicable demerit points and suspensions. It does not confirm a client’s driving experience, nor their date first licenced.
-
Contains: the client’s name, address, date of birth, height, weight, sex, MVID, driver’s licence number and issue date, expiration date, class, current demerit points, whether they are suspended or not, reinstatement conditions (if any) and a list of violations (descriptions, demerit/merit points and suspension term).
-
If an individual’s Alberta driver’s licence has been invalid for more than 6 months, the driver’s licence number, issue date, expiry date and class of licence will not appear on the abstract.
-
-

-
Commercial Driver’s Abstracts: includes Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance Inspection information and all of the above information on the regular Abstract, except for date of birth, height, weight, and sex. It is usually asked by employers to assess safety risks that can be associated with a particular driver.

Driver’s Licence History Report
A Driver’s Licence History report brings you information regarding all the driver’s licences that were issued to you in Alberta since May 20, 2003. Different from a Driver’s Abstract, a Driver’s Licence History is not focused on demerit points or suspensions. It contains dates of licence renewals, the licences you have held and the duration and exit day of your Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) during this time.
